Winter 2017 Concert Series

Friday December 8 @ 8pm and Saturday December 9 @ 2pm

This year's Christmas concert will be very special featuring Christmas music from modern times! Songs like Rita MacNeil’s This Season Will Never Grow Old, Jose Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad or the fun Going’ on a Sleghride, will be sure to enliven your Christmas spirit.

Songs like Mary Did You Know, The Huron Carol and Night of Silence (an unusual and beautiful modified version of Silent Night) will touch your soul. We’ve added two traditional tunes as well, Angels We Have Heard on High and Canon on Alleluia, although they may not be arrangements that you’ve ever heard and appreciated before. We’ll also perform the haunting and enchanting Who Has Seen the Wind and the upbeat hand clapping Let My Light Shine Bright.

For some reason The Sound of Music has become associated with Christmas .. perhaps because the TV stations always dust it off and re-air it over the holidays. The Allegra Singers will embrace The Sound of Music this season by singing four songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s famous hit - My Favourite Things, The Lonely Goatherd, Do-Re-Mi and, of course, The Sound of Music.

Here's a sample from a previous winter concert:

Come and enjoy the chorus, the soloists, the small ensembles, the piano (and our new pianist) and more... And, once again, we've got a chance for you to sing along to a few your favourite carols to help you get into that Christmas spirit.

You could also win one of the numerous door prizes… a bottle of wine, a spa treatment, a piece of jewelry, etc, etc… You could even win the 50/50 draw (often worth as much as $100) …just in time for your Christmas shopping!

Don’t miss the fun this year! Get a great start to your Christmas spirit. But don’t risk buying at the door. Order now before they’re all sold out!
