Spring 2018 Concert Series

Friday May 4 @ 8pm and Saturday May 5 @ 2pm

Early May is the perfect time to get out with family or friends to enjoy an inexpensive, yet highly entertaining, afternoon or evening of music with The Allegra Singers.

Let us entertain you with choral renditions, solos and small ensembles performing songs that range from beautiful to energetic to laugh-out-loud fun.

From movies and musicals such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” we’ll be singing Pure Imagination, from the animated movie “Anastasia” we are doing Journey to the Past, and from the Broadway Musical “Wicked” we’ll sing Defying Gravity.

Two Spirituals, All My Sins Been Taken Away and Amazing Grace, will be presented along with three African Songs, Ipharadisi, Asikhatali and Siyahamba.

We have three West Coast Canadian songs for you this season: That Irish Girl (a beautiful tune specially arranged for the Allegra Singers), Royal Hudson (a song about that famous West Coast train that carried the Royal Couple), and Comfort Me With Apples (a song adapted from The Songs of Solomon).

In addition, we'll be performing You've Got a Friend by Carole King, the Duke Ellington classic It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), and the lively and fun samba, Tico Tico .. "Oh Tico Tico tick! Oh Tico Tico tock! This Tico Tico, he's the cuckoo in my clock. And when he say 'Cuckoo!' he means it's time to woo, it's 'Tico Time' for all the lovers in the block .."

Here's a sample from a previous spring concert:

An afternoon or night out with the Allegra Singers is helpful to your local community, too. A portion of our ticket sales will be donated to a local non-profit organization.

Come and enjoy the chorus, the piano and the fun. Beverages and home-made goodies will be available at half-time at a nominal cost. You could also win one of the numerous door prizes! …or even win the 50/50 draw (often worth $100 or more). But don’t risk buying at the door. Order now before they’re all sold out!
