Spring 2017 Concert Series

Friday May 5 @ 8pm and Saturday May 6 @ 2pm

Did someone say spring?!! YES, finally!! The Allegra Singers are here to refresh your belief in spring and to re-awaken your spirit with music. Our spring concert will showcase songs from four general themes - Pop, Musicals, Americana and Canadiana.

We'll be performing "Hold On", made popular by Michael Buble, "The Wind", a song written and performed by Cat Stevens, and "Dust In The Wind", the haunting melody by Kansas, which we'll sing with a guitar accompaniment.

Then there's the Musicals! We'll perform the famous "Hello Dolly" by Louis Armstrong and "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" by the Gershwins from the 1937 film "Shall We Dance" in which Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers danced their way into everyone's hearts. We'll jazz you up with "Honeysuckle Rose" from the musical "Ain't Misbehavin'" and smile you up with "Oh Happy Day" made popular in the film "Sister Act 2".

We'll be doing a bit of Americana, too, for your listening pleasure with the silly "Polly Wolly Doodle", the old time "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey", the nostalgic "Long Time Ago" and the beautiful spiritual "Goin' Home". Our Canadiana songs include "Island Bound" (Vancouver Island bound, that is) and "Fare Thee Well Love", from The Rankin Family of Nova Scotia.

Here's a sample from a previous spring concert:

An afternoon or night out with the Allegra Singers is helpful to your local community, too. A portion of our ticket sales will be donated to a local non-profit organization.

Come and enjoy the chorus, the piano and the fun. Beverages and home-made goodies will be available at half-time at a nominal cost (all recipes for the goodies come from our Allegra Singers Cookbook on sale at the concert). You could also win one of the numerous door prizes! …or even win the 50/50 draw (often worth $100). But don't risk buying at the door. Order now before they're all sold out!
